 Lemon Bay  bay is 7 miles long and varies in width from 1/2 mile to 1.2 mile.

•Its watershed encompasses 73 miles of diverse aquatic biology.

•The average depth is 6 feet at the mean high water.

•Seven creeks flow into the Lemon bay.

•It is an estuary where salt water and fresh water mix to nurture many important species of fish, crustaceans and shellfish.

• Tidal exchange with the Gulf of Mexico occurs  primarily
at Stump Pass and Gasparilla Pass
 
 Peace River
 
  •  The Peace River,  is one of the longest rivers in Florida. It begins in the Green Swamp in Polk County and flows to Charlotte Harbor. It is 105 miles long. Charlotte Harbor is designated as a national estuary and a state aquatic preserve.
  •  Peace River Canoe Trail
    The Peace River Canoe Trail is officially designated as part of Florida´s Statewide System of Greenways and Trails. The Spanish  called it "Rio de la Paz" - the river of peace. The Seminole´s called it Tallackchopo (cow peas) because the river´s banks were covered with wild peas. The Peace River, true to its name, is a serene, slow-moving river with few signs of civilization.
  •  Arcadia, population 6500, is the biggest city in the Peace River Valley
