The canal system and the seawalls are maintained by the city of Punta Gorda.  These seawalls are the property of the PGI Canal Maintenance District, not the individual property owners. Punta Gorda Isles is the only community that maintains the seawalls, seawall caps, dredges the canals and canal inlets. The vast majority of lots in PGI  have been built upon. The lots available for resale are privately owned. There is no restriction on building time.
