Punta Gorda Florida (translated "Broad Point") is centrally located approximately 100 miles south of Tampa on Florida's west coast. A charming historic waterfront town, Punta Gorda Florida lies midway between Sarasota and Fort Myers Florida with easy access from I-75. Punta Gorda is about 20 miles north of Cape Coral. Punta Gorda is a relaxed, friendly town with clean air, a lack of traffic congestion and great weather. Punta Gorda FLorida is located 160 miles northwest of Miami and 120 miles southwest of Orlando. Punta Gorda is surrounded by beautiful Charlotte Harbor. The Myakka and Peace Rivers join to form Charlotte Harbor which flows to the Gulf of Mexico.
The Charlotte Harbor watershed is one of the largest watershed systems on the southwest Florida coast, covering more than 4,400 square miles. The Peace River and the Myakka River flow directly into Charlotte Harbor. The Caloosahatchee River connects to Charlotte Harbor through Pine Island Sound and Matlacha Pass. There are numerous deep water sailboat (no bridges) access lots in Punta Gorda. |

Charlotte County is known for its recreational opportunities. It has a total of 70 parks and recreation areas. The county has 12.5 miles of gulf coast beaches along the length of its barrier islands. There are 15 public beach access points. Beautiful gulf front Don Pedro Island State Park is accessible only by boat. There are approximately 28 marinas and 13 boat ramps located along the Peace River, Cape Haze Peninsula, Lemon Bay and Placida Harbor areas. Numerous canals wind through major residential subdivisions and provide access to the open waters of Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf of Mexico. The area is a waterfront paradise. Punta Gorda is host to the Redfish Cup fishing tournament.

The Punta Gorda area is an easy drive to some of the world's best beaches.
Boca Grande - Located on the barrier island of Gasparilla. Boca Grande Florida is carefully preserved in the tradition of old Florida. Located on the Southwest coast northwest of Punta Gorda, Boca Grande is a noted for its beaches, waterfront estates and its reputation as the tarpon fishing capital of the world.
Manasota Key - located between Englewood and Sarasota. This area has beautiful Gulf beaches.
Englewood Beach - just across the bridge from Englewood and an easy drive from Punta Gorda.
Sarasota Beaches
Siesta Key - a must see white sand beach in Sarasota area.
Venice Beach - a charming island beach, don't miss the Island shops.
