VENICE FLORIDA Real Estate
People began settling in Venice in the late 1860s. Congress had passed the Homestead Act which gave settling families 160 acres. Frank Hingel, a new settler who had lived in Venice, Italy submitted the name of Venice to local officials who were considering a name for the town when building the post office. Hingel felt this new area resembled Venice, Italy with its intricate canals. Read more about the history of Venice.



Venice is a vibrant town with beautiful beaches. Venice Main Street and the Island Avenues, on the Island of Venice, is a charming area of shops and restaurants.

Venice offers many fine gated golf course communities, condos and waterfront estates.
The area has great shopping, many restaurants, excellent medical care and is a short drive to Sarasota. Venice is a great place to live. Although there has been very strong real estate appreciation in Venice, as there has been throughout Southwest Florida, Venice remains affordable.
